What if he was only 7-3?

Stat mystery of the night: Middle of the third quarter, Yao Ming 1 rebound. No excuse for that.

Hammer Time. Can't touch this

After spending most of the night as The Facilitator, T-Mac ran off 11 straight points in the fourth quarter to finally pull the Rockets out of the danger zone. The answer they finally needed to CP3.

JVG is going to rip Yao a new "A-Hole" for only getting 2 rebounds for the whole game!

Catching the first break

At this time of the year, things can go for and against you. The Rockets were on the wrong end last night when the Mavs rested some of their starters in a home loss to the Jazz.

Tonight the Rockets catch a break as Hornets big man Tyson Chandler sits out the game. His malady? A sore big toe. A sore big toe? When your team is in a playoff race.

Oh well, the Rockets won't have to deal with a guy who got 14 points and 10 rebounds in New Orleans' win on March 25.

The Chuckinator

Less than two minutes in and it's clear Chuck Hayes doesn't want to spend a week in Utah opening the playoffs. He's already got 4 points and 3 rebounds.

Macho men

Sometimes strategy is just beyond explanation. The Hornets are playing without their regular big man Tyson Chandler in the middle and yet they've decided still to go at Yao Ming with just 1-on-1 coverage. In less than 7 minutes, Yao is 3-for-4 from the field with 8 points.

Finally the Rockets offense is put together.

Head gets more time playing shooting guard, Juan Howard's catch and shoot is pretty good too. Rafer Alston is amazing with his pass, something refreshing.

With less burden to do the shooting by TMac, he is mostly effective. 11/18, that is very good for him.

Wonder why this was not done much earlier; Rockets would have had 60 wins this season, averaging 100 points per game, and 35 sellouts, and a happy Bonzi too. :)

Marc Jackson 3 rebounds, Yao 2 rebounds - lots of long shots tonight.

Mr X and O

Good to see Patrick Ewing back at the Toyota Center, relaxing in the front row, just watching the Rockets and not coaching.

Just like the previous three seasons.
