Among centers, Yao is ranked #1 according to his numbers:
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/stats/bypos ... eason_2006
Among all players, Yao is ranked #8 according to his numbers:
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/stats/bypos ... ,PF,F,FC,C
Yao is the best center in the league at this time, and is in the top ten of the entire league.
Forget championships - we're not saying that Yao is among the best centers EVER. We're saying he's the best center that's playing TODAY.
After seeing this evidence, if the Yao-bashers still deny that he's the best center right now, then you know they're either racist or harboring some other kind of bias.

it's only ppg, which doesnt come near to reflect his whole game. yao is has been a consistent top 5 in nba's efficiency rating as well as john hollinger's PER rating.

Actually, you got a point there about ppg.
On closer inspection, the metrics on those two pages only rank ppg.
I guess I jumped the gun a little when I saw those rankings.

and wow, never thought I would see Yao Ming getting more points per game than Paul Pierce and Vince Carter.
If you told anyone that would happen a few years ago they wouldve laughed and called him the next Shawn Bradley.
