I like reading your articles because you directly express you opinions and sentiments. This team has performed below expectation, but of course with most expectation there is disappointment. I've been following them since Yao's debut, and after 5 years of promises and let downs I think Rocket fans deserve their turn to enjoy the thrill of rooting for an elite team. Oh well, it seems we'll have to wait at least a little longer.

Obviously, this is a talent-loaded team that suffers from the lack of a good point guard. This is ironic, considering the fact that the team has a glut of "point guards". Unfortunately, we have a glut of mediocrity - something which no team needs. There are so many great point guards in the league right now, why is it that we can't even get one good point guard. Luck, I suppose being that we haven't be able to trade Rafer.

Last year, the Rockets were doing well because JVG made TMac the play maker which essentially was JVG's short-sighted solution to his meager offensive proficiency. This year Adlemen wants to take that responsibility off of TMac's shoulders, which is wise. It seems though that the players are some ways away from learning his offensive system. And also, Adelman hasn't yet been able identify a rotation that can win more games. Or maybe he just doesn't want to settle for that rotation because he wants to get more players into the system (i.e., not make JVG's mistake of ignoring the development of certain players who might be able contribute at play off time.

It is so difficult to understand what went through his (Francis's) mind. Remember when he came in and did a tremendous job by scoring 11 points
( I think) in his first game back? And now, he seems to have lost all his confidence and touch. He refuses to shoot when he has the ball, and when he does shoot, he ends up shooting airballs. Where is the sports psycologist?
They are badly in need of one.

I would like to go on record with a prediction...

The rockets will make a nice push post all-star break winning 2 of every 3 games in the last half of the season.

Yao will slowly improve and demand the ball more. In the last 20 games Yao will be talked about almost daily as an MVP (like before he was injured last year).

The starting line-up during this period will be rafer, scola, hayes, yao, mcgrady.

Mcgrady will continue to crank it up on and off. He will miss at least 10 games by season's end, but will be ready in the playoffs.

Adleman will start getting credit for being a proven coach who just need more time for his team to gel.

League MVP: Lebron James (with Yao on the short list)

Playoffs in the first round as a 7 seed. Opponent: Spurs.

Outcome: Rockets in 7. Yao

(I know, it might be wishful thinking - BUT let's put our predictions out there and see who comes the closest!)

Clyde is absolutely right about Rafer. The real question is, if it is so simple, why can't Francis and James do it? They obviously can't, and if they could, they would have already won the job by now. Brooks may be the answer, but he is tiny (at least the other three have some decent size), and will get dominated on defense. I think if we end up starting a rookie it will all but signal throwing in the towel. I am worried about his shooting too, because being a good three point shooter in practice is WORLDS different than doing it in a game (see Steve Novak's career 3pt%). Very few contenders, if any, ever start a rookie at the point. It isn't that it hasn't happened, but it is super rare. I think the better answer would be to try and trade for a point guard who has experience and better size than Brooks, only I don't know if we have anything anyone else wants. It is a bleak day in Houston when you long for Dereck Fisher to be your starting point (God how awesome would that be.....).
