I am tired of people saying that Glen Davis is the answer to the Rockets problems. Yes, they need a power forward. No, they don't need a power forward whose weight fluctuates more than the stock market. The Rockets need someone who is quick enough for perimeter oriented forwards and strong enough to rebound; Any offensive skills would be a bonus.
"6-foot-11, 234-pound power forward with a 7-foot-4½ wing span and a 32½-inch vertical jump. His body is already ripped, and his frame suggests he could easily bulk up to 250 without losing any speed or agility. "
That sounds like the kind of guy we need. Oh wait, we already have him, Malick Badiane. Most quality big men get drafted early so I hope everyone isn't to upset we didn't draft J. McRoberts, Fazekas, or Milovan Rakovic(

Mitchell: I was wondering the other day whatever happened to Badiane. Last year I remember the Rockets saying he might be ready this season, but he seems to have fallen off the face of the earth in Morey's eyes. Another "project" draft pick by the Rockets that doesn't work out. At least bring him to Vegas to see what he can do.

I'm kind of ambivalent about Glen Davis. I just mention him as an example of someone who is NOT a Chuck Hayes clone who can shoot.

I have to agree it was a waist of money. Houston's management said that they were going to pick the best player available, no matter what position he plays. Sure, you can say that the pg they picked is good, but since we don't need him, the real question is, does he have trade value? As of right now, I don't think so and adding another John Lucas was a dumb thing to do. Of course, I can imagine more trades coming soon, but if we are really going to rely on an old Mike James(who by the way had a terrible season last year) as the starting guard, I think Houston won't be as good as they were, last season.

Later Thursday, the Rockets acquired Purdue forward Carl Landry by trading a future second-round pick and cash to Seattle for the 31st pick.
...
Minutes after Cooper spoke to reporters, the Rockets nabbed Landry, a 6-7, 245-pound power forward who was Purdue's leading scorer (19 points) and rebounder (7.3 per game) last season.
