Despite our scouring the Web for articles we can put in our "Latest articles" section below, we're having a difficult time finding anything new for you. It all boils down to this: if Yao doesn't play, he hardly gets any press. Sure, we could post some articles that reference how low his stats are to date, but we've already posted articles of that nature and our goal is to filter out redundancy. So we're going to continue keeping an eye out for intelligently-written articles that shed more light on Yao's life in the NBA--and outside of it. In the meantime, the Rockets continue to blow a golden opportunity to bring more visibility to their team. If they only played Yao 20-25 minutes, they would have a better chance of winning games while gaining new fans simultaneously.

It was another low-minute night for Yao on Saturday against the Golden State Warriors, who only played 7 minutes (his lowest to date) and scored 5 points. But in this game, almost none of the role players got many minutes. Having attended the game, we felt the Rockets were never in a position to break their rhythm and go with any of their non-starters since they could never put the game away. Starting center Kelvin Cato was effective defensively by blocking 2 shots and altering many others, and they had enough offense from the usual--Steve Francis and Cuttino Mobley--along with nice performances from forwards Eddie Griffin (13 points, 3 blocks) and Kenny Thomas (20 points). So overall, the Rockets really didn't need Yao's help this night, although they could have used better interior defense against Erick Dampier, who had a season-high 23 points.

The trooper he is, Yao showed his willingness to put the team before himself by continuing to clap for his teammates when they did well--especially Kelvin Cato. Although we know Yao wants to play more minutes, we get the feeling he is amazed watching the exploits of his athletically-gifted teammates.

We've also got to give the crowd credit for encouraging Yao every time he gets he ball by roaring in anticipation. And when he scores, the building shakes. Yao has got to feel the love from the crowd. We can only imagine what it will be like when he starts dominating like we know he can, hopefully like his predecessor did--Hakeem the Dream--who was honored in a moving retirement ceremony at halftime.

1st quarter
3:25 Yao checks in and replaces Kelvin Cato to loud roars from the Houston crowd.
3:07 Yao establishes great position in the paint with a much shorter Erick Dampier guarding him one-on-one. Francis has an opportunity to pass him the ball for a great chance for an easy basket, but Francis fails to do so, shoots a jumper and misses.
2:43 Yao goes over the back of a Warrior on a rebound and commits a foul.
2:27 Yao tips a ball too hard off the glass during an offensive rebounding 'scrum,' and the rebound goes to the Warriors.
:15 Yao rebounds a missed free throw from a Warrior and gets fouled. This play again demonstrates Yao's ability to make a 'gimme' rebound from a missed free throw something the other team cannot take for granted. His height continues to create problems for the other team since he can elevate higher than anyone else on the planet.
:01 Gilbert Arenas drives the lane and runs into Yao, who is called for a debatable foul. The slow motion replay shows Yao had good position before Gilbert jumped into him. However, the entire night the refs seemed to be calling alot of fouls inside the paint whenever a good defensive play or block occured for anybody.
2nd quarter
9:34 Yao finally gets the ball in the paint off a dish from Glen Rice and lays it in to the delight of the crowd.
8:50 Yao gets on the left block and bounce passes to a cutting Glen Rice, who fumbles the ball, which is an exact replay of what happened in the game before against the Sonics.
8:26 Yao checks out of the game...and doesn't return.
